And the losing continues...

When I tuned into the game, I saw the lineup and thought, "Hold the phone! Dusty Baker's been kidnapped, and someone else is making out the lineup!"

Turns out, Dusty really wasn't kidnapped, he just actually looked at statistics before the game...somewhat anyway.

Sutton - LF
Hanigan - C
Votto - 1B
Phillips - 2B
Rolen - 3B
Gomes - RF
Nix - CF
Gonzalez - SS
Pitcher

I am really liking what I am seeing from Drew Sutton. Turns out, Dusty is kinda right in letting him play as the lead-off man, as Sutton was commonly led off in the minors.

I was REALLY impressed that Dusty cut his loyalty to that garbage shortstop we have in Alex Gonzalez and batted Hanigan in the 2-hole. Personally, I would love to see Hanigan leading off. My lineup would consist of this:

Hanigan - C
Phillips - 2B
Votto - 1B
Rolen - 3B
Gomes - RF
Balentein - LF
Sutton - CF
Janish - SS
Pitcher

To Dusty, I know it must seem like the cardinal sin to bat a catcher as the lead-off guy in baseball, but Hanigan has a great on base percentage, and he puts the ball in play. In other words...he gets on base!

But Phillips has ALWAYS been the type of guy to hit second in the order. He's just not a cleanup hitter, regardless of what Dusty thinks. Dusty has always said that Brandon is not a cleanup hitter, but continues to bat him there EVEN THOUGH we just acquired a cleanup hitter from a very potent offense in Toronto (Scott Rolen).

Gomes and Balentein batting after Rolen in the 5th and 6th spots, to me, would give the added power that we need. Nix, despite his 3-run homer effort tonight, is batting .235, has a horrible on-base percentage, and his walk/strikeout ratio SUCKS. He's nothing more than a bench player with some power, sadly, even though I like the guy. Not to mention, he's been known for a lack of hustle at times.

Sutton and Janish at the bottom of the order will see better pitches, thus being able to have more of a chance to get a hit. Gonzalez's career is over, so bench him or just DFA him. He's quite possibly one of the worst players in baseball right now.

Dusty has been given lemons this year, but instead of making lemonade, the guy is trying to make orange juice. He's just not doing his job the best he could be. There's also no motivation. When's the last time Dusty's been thrown out of a game? We had the SAME EXACT problem with Jerry Narron. Get someone that fires up this club! Dusty Baker is a loyalist to veteran players, and to a fault, and he's also the most unemotional manager I have ever seen. Wow...whoopdee do...he sat Brandon Phillips out a ballgame. How many times has crap like that, or worse, happened this year? I can't even begin to imagine the number of mental mistakes that have been made on this team from a statistical standpoint. Anyone mind running that by me?
